Following a rash of vehicle break ins, the Highwood Police Department is asking residents to be vigilant in locking their car doors when leaving them unattended. Breaking into cars is a crime of opportunity and thieves will generally avoid cars that are locked. Also, be sure not to leave high value items like change, phones, and laptops in plain sight.
