Firefighting Equipment

Our firefighting equipment includes a state-of-the-art quint, an advanced life support ambulance, a recently repainted engine and a utility/command vehicle.

Truck Co. 37

A quint is so named because it is equipped to perform five (5) firefighting functions: pumper, aerial ladder, water tanker, ground ladder truck and hose carrier.

Also, a word of caution from the Highwood Fire Department – please yield to emergency vehicles.  Pull to the right and stop or remain stopped in place as we approach.  Our quint weighs over 26 tons!

Ambulance Co. 37

The Highwood Fire Department Ambulance carries a full complement of medical supplies and devices.  In addition to the stretcher, bandages and oxygen, it is outfitted with a cardiac monitor/defibrillator, advanced airway equipment, emergency childbirth kits and an array of medications for treating a wide range of medical emergencies.  And, most importantly, it carries highly-trained Firefighters/Paramedics to the scene of the emergency!

Engine Co. 37

Our Engine 37 is a 1981 E-One pumper.  It is capable of discharging 1500 gallons of water per minute through several hundred feet of hose and/or the beautiful brass deck gun nozzle mounted behind the cab.  In 2002, the engine was repainted and there were some modifications made to the pump.
