Highwood Water Tower Project Financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF)

Construction of the interior and exterior repairs and painting to the water tower in the 700 block of Sheridan Road were financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes repairs to certain areas of the steel inside the water tower that have become corroded, sandblasting the existing paint from the interior and exterior surfaces and repainting all interior and exterior areas. Once complete it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in the City of Highwood by extending the life of the water tower and ensuring there is enough storage capacity for residents to receive clean water, even in the event of high usage or an emergency. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
